Guild and craftsmen’s market Seligenstadt 2026
In the historically unique setting of the former Benedictine abbey in Seligenstadt am Main, the Klatschmohn Seligenstadt e.V. association organises the historical guild and craftsmen’s market every two years on a weekend in May. Here you can experience the world of craftsmanship, travelling traders, scholars, minstrels and jugglers, mainly from the 18th century. Jugglers, artists and musicians with old instruments provide all kinds of entertainment and for your physical pleasure there are lovingly prepared delicacies from grandma’s kitchen as well as dishes cooked over an open fire in the old monastery kitchen. The market is set in the time of the merchant processions, in which from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, groups of merchants travelled to the Frankfurt trade fair with their horse-drawn carts from all directions to offer their goods for sale. The market ends with a breathtaking fire show on the grounds of the former monastery.
