When your foot taps to the beat

Today, May 20, 2023, the official part of the basket market started in Bouxurulles and as soon as you arrived you had to tap your feet in time with the music.

With the Vielle à Roue (translated as wheel fiddle) and an accordion, the basket market was accompanied musically for the many visitors. We were right there and chatted a little in a hustle and bustle of French, English and German.

You shouldn’t imagine the basket market in Bouxurulles to be so gigantic. The small market square is well filled with a few basket makers, the mayor greets you personally and you feel comfortable. At the back end is the village well, in which wicker material can be soaked. and when we arrived, the real hit (unfortunately no picture) was a setter(?) who always escaped from the owner and jumped into the fountain with a huge splash. And then the dog didn’t want to go out anymore. The people around couldn’t help but laugh and it probably made the master a little uncomfortable.
There is a small overview of the back part as a video. The small and private braiding museum in the barn at the very end of the video is also interesting. Some really ancient fine weaving that would make many other museums lick their fingers.

It’s closing time for today. Tomorrow we’ll go the 8km back over to Bouxurulles.
