Test of nerves – never seen before

The customer’s brief was clear. The seat and the half-canopy in the backrest should be replaced. A task that I have taken on and completed very often. But this chair was different, completely different.

At first it was relaxed, but over time it got worse and my nerves were severely strained. The seat weave became a real nightmare because the closer I got to the end of the weaving, the tighter it became for the weaving threads. With every thread I pulled in, there was a risk of damaging the thread that was already woven in as I pulled it. And that’s exactly what happened at almost regular intervals. So take everything out again and replace what needs to be replaced. These certainly weren’t the screams of joy that were often heard from the workshop.

I don’t know how many times I’ve replaced broken or split threads. There were countless of them and it took a lot of time. Too many drill holes in such a small frame. But at some point the seat was finally finished.

But the chair still has the half-sun mesh in the backrest. What a joy…hahaha.
I find it a challenge to accommodate a half-solar net on an area of approx. 25cm x 17cm. Here, too, there have been many setbacks in braiding.

Sitz- und Halbsonnengeflecht komplett ersetzt

I spent hour after hour working on this chair. I was annoyed for hours and hours and even lay awake at night trying to figure out how I could pull the braided threads through without breaking threads that were already intertwined.

Never before has a chair brought me to the brink of despair like this one. Pure Sisyphean work.

But I finally defeated him, albeit with frayed nerves.
