Willows, willowsand more willows. In the last few days and weeks I’ve been able to increase my range of basketry to some extent – weaving until I’m tired of it was on the to-do list. This means I will be able to take part in the farmers’ market in Bad Salzhausen again next Sunday, July 3, 2022.
As a one-person entrepreneur, you can only do one job. I always switch back and forth with repair orders, chair weaves, requests for specific baskets and basket weaving. And so in June I focused primarily on baskets so that I could take part in the farmers’ market again with an appropriate selection of basketry.
I could certainly make it easy for myself and buy baskets of undetermined origin cheaply. And by cheap I mean cheap (not inexpensive). But I can’t, with a clear conscience, vouch for the quality of such purchased goods. Shortly after purchase, some of these baskets ended up in my workshop with broken handles for repair. That’s why I only produce basketry that I have woven with my hands.
And where clear varnish is the only thing that holds many cheap baskets together, I only varnish the wooden bottoms of trays. Everything else is and remains as nature provides it.
Natural, ecological and sustainable – these are my baskets. And for 11 years now, I have been true to my principle of only offering for sale what I have produced exclusively myself.
