After my first step into self-employment in February, six months have now passed. During that time, I recalled a lot of things from my training thanks to the documents I still had. I created some basketry that is now stacked up in my house. I was also able to replace a few chair weaves.
At the beginning of August, the greater community of Ranstadt will celebrate its 40th anniversary. And with a lot of persuasion from Ralf, I decided to present myself to the public as a basket maker. I’m not really comfortable with it, but if no one knows I exist it will be difficult to sell baskets.
I showed myself and my work to the audience with a more than uneasy feeling. In retrospect, everything wasn’t as bad as feared. I would prefer to just braid for myself in the workshop. But the visitors’ interest in the diversity of the works taught me better. So it’s time to look around for markets.
