… exactly 11 years ago I embarked on the adventure of basket making. Self-employed as a part-time business and as a small business owner, I initially only wanted to braid in silence. Back then, I didn’t give any thought to markets and prices.
The main thing is to work in my teaching profession again, because I learned this profession from 1980 to 1983. And even today training takes place at the basket school in Lichtenfels.
But how can you sell if you don’t show yourself to the public? And so my first market was filled with heart racing and excitement. In the end it wasn’t as bad as feared. And over the years, the right markets for me have crystallized. And I can still be found there today.
From the very beginning, I was able to rely on the support of my managerOhneGehaltUndLohn. From the homepage, appointment calendar to setting up and accompanying us during the markets, my husband Ralf has always been there over the past few years, with one single exception due to illness.
Even a little surprised at how quickly time passes, I am proud that my weaving craft, which was designated as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2016, is still so well received by customers.
My work certainly won’t make you rich, in the sense of having money in your account. But I enjoy my work and positive feedback from customers ensures that I have not regretted my decision from 11 years ago to this day.
