A fortnight ago, I received an email asking if I knew anyone who could use a willow plane, clutch and wooden mould. In other words, everything you need for fine weaving. You would be a trained basket maker.
Of course I was happy to write the answer to the question, especially as such tools are almost always needed. The first name sounded very familiar to me and I checked again.
And that’s right! We were both in the same class when we trained as basket makers from 1980 to 1983.
Reason enough for a two-hour phone call. It’s hard to believe that after 40 years you get back in touch this way.
