We were able to welcome slightly fewer visitors to the third farmers’ market in Bad Salzhausen this time, but all the more customers to our stand. I increased the selection of basketry in advance and wove some larger shopping baskets. Ultimately, this was also with a view to the upcoming guild and crafts market (25 and 26 May) in Seligenstadt, so that there would really be enough goods available.
Because two years ago, I was practically sold out after Seligenstadt, so I had to cancel the subsequent farmers’ market a week later due to a lack of goods. That’s nice for me, but it also disappoints the customers who are expecting me in Bad Salzhausen the following weekend. So it remains to be seen whether the basket stock will actually be sufficient this year.
I currently have a few chairs in the workshop that are waiting for a new wickerwork. Basket repairs and orders are also on the agenda. Let’s see which of them will actually find their way into my workshop and, above all, when.
If I don’t respond to emails or phone calls, there’s a reason for it.
On the side, I also answer emails and phone calls, or not. The latter primarily include enquiries about participating in markets. However, my market dates for this year are always planned well in advance and I only answer enquiries for events that are really interesting for me. So if I don’t respond to enquiries, there is no interest on my part.
I also receive a lot of enquiries about wickerwork, where you can find out which region the person comes from with a bit of search engine skill. Because I do not ship! My baskets, repairs and commissioned work are only available directly via collection or at a market in which I participate. All the hassle with packaging law, general terms and conditions, cancellation etc. is definitely not worth the effort for me.
But back to the farmers’ market last Sunday. Even though the sky was completely covered in clouds and there was only the occasional small patch of sunshine, it was the usual good day with reasonably pleasant temperatures. Here are a few more impressions from me.
