If anything, the company holidays had to take place in France. So the trip to Charmes was planned well in advance. Originally on the agenda last year, it had to be postponed to this year due to health reasons.
Every year on Ascension Day, a meeting is held in Bouxurulles around the willow. At the weekend there is also a basket market with around 23 exhibitors and craftsmen.
So we checked in at Sabrina and Romain’s L’île aux mille Charmes campsite and made ourselves comfortable.

In Bouxurulles, there are always lots of (braiding) courses on Thursdays and Fridays and they are quickly booked out. That’s why the streets are always empty. Jeanny Bouwen (Instagram), a Belgian basket maker who we visited, provides a brief overview of the courses and market.
All in all, it was a relaxing few days in Charmes and Bouxurulles. And although dark clouds were still gathering on Sunday and thunder could be heard in the distance from Epinal, it stayed dry.
