Experiments with willow and a wicker chair

⏱️ 1 min read

Before the company holidays in May, I put willows in the garden in the tub to soak. They have now been in the water for three weeks. I found a weaving technique on the internet called Tatza and wanted to try my hand at it. I started by practising with peddigree cane and later wove some of these objects with the soaked willows. More on this at the next farmers’ market on 6 July 2027 in Bad Salzhausen.

I have also prepared a few smaller baskets with handles. I just have to finish the handles for these.

A desk chair is now in the works. A brief on-site inspection was due to ensure that the wood was in good condition. Now it’s getting a new woven cotton seat.

That will be fun with the many struts in the large backrest and the tensioning of the braiding thread.
