It’s not the case that people, i.e. me, sit at their notebook out of sheer boredom and implement the latest intellectual outpourings in matters of data protection and cookie consent. There is always something new to consider. And as a man from the off-screen, I deal with this stuff about laws and guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the new Data Privacy Framework (valid since July 10, 2023) in terms of data protection DE-US, it is now easier to integrate services from the USA such as Google, Microsoft, etc. on your homepage. But I find it a joke when American companies certify themselves. Well, the main thing is that you have something to do again and are struggling through the individual laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Swiss DSG, which will apply from September 1, 2023, must also be taken into account for companies not based in Switzerland. Here it is enough for customers or users from Switzerland to access a website hosted in Germany. Primarily, it’s more about access to shops and apps. Otherwise, the DSG and the DSVGO are very similar. So I don’t see any need for action for the creative fingers here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Things look completely different with cookie consent. Here I used to use CookieYes, but have now switched to Real Cookie Banner. It offers more and, above all, important functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Traceability of the site visitors‘ consent choices, especially when there is trouble and you need proof of how a visitor ultimately decided. The evidence is stored for 120 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cookie settings may only be saved for a limited time and must be reset after 365 days at the latest so that a site visitor can or has to make a new decision. I chose 183 days because in Italy this value is considered the maximum limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those under 16 are not allowed to accept cookies themselves, only their legal guardians can. Hardly anyone knows about it and I’ve never really seen a reference to it on other sites. The Real Cookie Banner now in use at least offers the possibility of outputting a corresponding information text and would also record the decision if I were to display it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Respecting \u201cDo not Track\u201d in the user\u2019s browser settings is automatically taken into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since bots are not covered by the GDPR, they can be excluded from cookie consent, otherwise a bot from Google or Bing, for example, could classify the site as slow just because it is waiting and waiting and waiting for a selection from the consent tool\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So don’t be surprised if cookie consent appears more often than usual when you visit a site in the near future. I’ll finish configuring the tool in the next few days\/weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
