<\/figure>There’s a lot of money spent on wickerwork in the workshop and you’re only willing to use it to light a fireplace. Even though it’s a natural material, I’ve been having more trouble braiding with it lately than ever before. It tears, it cracks and it splits when intertwined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is absolutely no fun to weave a single chair weave with this material. Every few minutes it tears somewhere and threads that are already intertwined have to be removed. And even if the braid were finished, I wouldn’t be able to hand it over to the customer with a clear conscience. Because what happens if the chair is then used? Does a thread crack or break at any point?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The quality of the rattan threads is more than just bad. Unfortunately, you only see it when you want to braid with it. Especially since the uneven thickness of the threads also causes problems during processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s also not because the braided material is too dry. Even when woven slightly moistened, the thread breaks or splits. And at the moment I just feel the need to let the chair braid go up in smoke and just braid the cotton braid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I’m not willing to order better chair wicker in different widths from the dealer just because I suspect it and spend money on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s why I’m currently seriously considering only using cotton braided tape. Visually it is very close to the natural material rattan. But it doesn’t drive me crazy when braiding.
