<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nOn July 31st the time had come. Eight children and young people wanted to get a taste of basket making and registered for the weaving course during the holiday play season in Ortenberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With pleasant temperatures and sunshine, the young course participants gradually arrived at the house on the salt marshes and were warmly welcomed by me. After a brief overview of the materials and tools, we could get started. There were two floors of different sizes made of plywood and plenty of colorful wicker to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The floors were already prepared with a stand for the youngest children so that they could start weaving straight away. The older ones have built their shell from the ground up. The most difficult thing for each individual was probably deciding which color to start with and how to combine them later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We concentrated on the matter and we braided, laughed and talked for two hours. Time flew by far too quickly and the colorful bowls were finished. The unanimous opinion of the young basket makers was that mother, father, grandma and aunt could have been late for collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results were really impressive and were proudly presented and of course admired by the adults. All participants had fun during these two weaving lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I definitely enjoyed showing some of my craft to a younger generation.
