Everything was prepared when the children, ages 6 to 11, arrived around 9:00 a.m. All seats were quickly taken and, depending on their desire, mood or ability, each participant took an already finished floor or just the plywood board to insert the stands themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even the youngest basket-making apprentices quickly figured out how to weave, so it was just a matter of supplying everyone with the colorful wicker threads and helping out here and there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKatja\u201d or \u201cCan you take a look\u201d or even \u201cI need help\u201d made many a drop of sweat appear. Nevertheless, it was nice to see how the children weaved their own baskets almost independently. The final rear sight was once again done by a professional, but each basket is unique and all children can rightly be proud of their results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were all distracted again and again by a pair of sparrows nesting in a nesting box above our heads. The adult birds did not allow themselves to be disturbed in any way and diligently fed their young.
