In the meantime, due to the extremely poor quality, I have completely switched from the chair braiding tube to the cotton braiding band and have already been able to gain some initial experience with this.
As far as workmanship is concerned, the band does not break and has consistent quality. The braided band, like the chair braided tube, is available in different widths. In addition to the light natural tone, the thread is also available in the color antique, which is very close to stained chair braided tube. Theoretically, the cotton braided band could also be stained.
However, the thread tends to twist slightly when weaving at the drill holes in the seat. That looks ugly then. But the following applies here: Don’t swear and practice makes perfect.
It gets exciting when a seat has a lot of drill holes and the distance between the threads becomes very narrow. The braid is much more unstable than chair braid and it requires a lot of patience to weave it. Although there are some technical aids, I have managed without them so far. Only with swearing, but it can be done, like the seat in the following chair.
It is different if the number of drill holes is within a “normal” range. Here the cotton braided band can be processed or braided quickly and without any problems. There is no hassle because of chair wicker tubes constantly breaking or tearing. And twisting of the cotton band is hardly possible here. So work in a relaxed manner.
