A great surprise awaited me with two seats on a cantilever chair.
Originally a ready-made braid was used here. But at some point the groove was closed with a rattan splint and holes were drilled. The seat fabric, which was then made by hand, was now broken and I should repair it. What was done there can only be described as amateurish craftsmanship. The assumption is that the predecessor could not or did not want to replace ready-made wickerwork and then put together a wicker chair in this way.
Each drill hole is glued with a split pin and the production of this new variant is a bit careless. Torn drill holes on the bottom and endless glue.
Getting the frames back together so that a new braid can be stretched took a good 4 hours.
I try very hard to make the new braid in such a way that as many imperfections in the frame are hidden as possible.
