An exciting year is gradually coming to an end.
So it’s time to reflect on the beautiful and also not so beautiful things that happened this year.
The number of markets in which I was represented increased significantly. In addition to (art) craft markets, there were also three medieval markets on the program this year. And of these, I remember Münzenberg and Büdingen as the special markets. Münzenberg because as visitors we have always found the market there to be absolutely worth experiencing and Büdingen because this market only takes place every 2 years and the entire old town shines in medieval splendor.
I would like to continue to take part in both medieval markets in the coming years.
The craft markets this year were consistently successful for me. Almost every visitor was amazed that basket making can still be learned in Germany. And as a result, I was able to give a few weaving courses that introduced the participants to the craft of basket making.
Most of the dates have already been set for next year and I would look forward to your visit.
In 2013 I was able to give my braiding courses in the beautiful surroundings of the Anthoms Pub riding. Always accompanied by lunch (also vegetarian) and sunshine, I think every participant enjoyed it.
And in this riding I opened my basket making workshop on May 1st, 2013. After some modifications and renovation work, I had my own large workshop.
A small farm festival in the Hofreite also took place this year and was intended to attract new guests to the pub.
But unfortunately the pub closed its doors forever after 2 years due to lack of popularity. And two people who had grown to love each other had to give up their dream. And I also left my workshop there on November 30, 2013. Some structural inadequacies ultimately forced me to do this.
In 2014 I will be working hard to find a new workshop and since I am in the fortunate position of not having to look, I can take my time.
These two events were the only ones I can count among the less fond memories of 2013. I still don’t want to miss them.
Everything else was a lot of fun. I was able to meet countless nice people at the markets and during my braiding courses, was able to learn something myself at the braiding festival in Ludwigsburg and don’t regret that I decided in 2011 to become self-employed in the profession I learned between 1980 and 1983.
So at the end all I can do is hope for a wonderful and successful 2014 and wish all readers, customers and friends one
