You can sum up the day in a few words: It was hot.
The temperatures rose to record highs early on and positioning the basketry in the market tent turned out to be a sweaty affair.
Then it was time to queue up to receive the exhibitor passes. There was already a long queue, but things were moving quickly. Then go back to the tent and make further preparations for the upcoming braiding course. The tub for soaking the willows has definitely proven itself.
It didn’t take long for the first visitors to arrive and despite rising temperatures there was a steady flow of visitors. They watched with interest, among other things, how the braiding course was held.
It was also nice that after a long time we met people we hadn’t seen for a long time.
The later in the day, the less you wanted to move because of the heat. The fighting knights, who dented each other’s helmets while fully equipped, were also admirable.
At 8:00 p.m. we closed our market stall and, following an invitation, made our way to one of the many warehouses. This is how we concluded the first market day.
Things will get hot again on Pentecost Sunday. At least when it comes to temperatures. Otherwise you have to wait and be surprised.
