The 92nd Shepherd’s Market in Hungen took place on the last weekend of August 2014. I actually found the right frame for a basket maker.
So two days of a shepherd’s market and demonstrations of my basket-making craft were on the agenda. Overall there were few visitors on the first day. I can’t say whether it was the weather because it only started raining around 7 p.m. There wasn’t much going on on the second day either. Only after the parade in the afternoon did the market area fill with visitors.
When talking to other market suppliers, it became clear that many of them were taking part for the first time. Everyone can think for themselves what conclusions they can draw from this. Overall, interest in my basketry was very low on both market days. And other stands probably felt the same way.
Ultimately, the market was unfortunately a disappointment and I personally cannot take part again in two years.
