That was it, the last market for this year. The local market day began somewhat irritatingly. The rented hut was not yet in its place. That was definitely acceptable because we had plenty of time to set up. What really made the mood suddenly drop to zero was the size of the hut. Originally it was 3 x 3 meters (the same size as our own market tent). After some inquiries, what was there now was only 2.5 x 2 meters.
So the entire planning of how the hut would be set up and how the basketry would be presented was thrown out the window. Nothing would fit the way you imagined. And to be honest: you were on the verge of not unloading at all and going straight back home.
Ultimately we decided to continue. So somehow you had to squeeze yourself and the basketry into the small hut.
At 3:00 p.m. the Christmas magic in Ranstadt officially started. As dusk fell, the square in front of the town hall filled up more and more. Initial fears that the lighting would not be sufficient did not come true. The power went out in our cabin twice, but the community electrician was able to fix it quickly and easily. A big thank you for that.
But somehow basketry and the Christmas market don’t really seem to go together. Despite a lot of visitors, sales and interest were limited.
Until 10 p.m. it was time to at least warm yourself from the inside with mulled wine.
Dismantling or loading and driving home was then completed in just under half an hour.
So much for the last market this year. Now I’m recovering from the operation on my hand and I hope I can start braiding again in January. The planning of the markets and braiding courses for 2015 is already in full swing. However, a different concept will then be tried out for the markets.
