That started well

This week is off to a really good start. Long-awaited commitments to participate in markets arrive and the braiding courses for NABU Ortenberg are very well received.

Ralf has installed a second tub in the workshop so that I am now able to soak willow with different soaking times or also peeled and unpeeled willow. This makes planning and working in general easier.

I was excited to be accepted to the farmers’ markets in Bad Salzhausen. But I can only take part in one market. It’s actually a shame, because as a direct marketer I offer baskets that I make myself, which certainly don’t fall under “crafts” but rather under “traditional crafts”. So all I have to do is convince those responsible for my work and my goods.

It was nice for me to hear that they really wanted me to be there as a craftsman for the 975th anniversary celebrations in Bellmuth. I’m happy to be there, especially since the craft of basket making is shown in the historical part of the celebration.

And at Lißberg Castle in August I will not only show visitors the craft of basket making, but the little guests are welcome to try their hand at basket making and weave a basket themselves.

But there is still a lot of time until then and I am now preparing for the first market this year. As always, it takes place in the Dominican monastery in Frankfurt. So get to work…
