The alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday. But not to go on an Easter egg hunt as early as possible, but rather to set up on time in Bad Salzhausen for the farmers’ market on Kurallee.
At around 8:30 a.m. we were the first on site, apart from the sales trailers that had already been placed. Despite the plan, there was some uncertainty about where exactly the market tent should be set up, but in the end this question was also clarified.
Despite the winter break, we haven’t forgotten how to set up the tent. And while the other market participants gradually set up, we were able to watch in peace.
The beautiful weather attracted the first visitors even before the market started. But it was still pretty cool in the shade and we wanted mulled wine rather than hot tea.
My garden stakes with rattle technology were in demand and there were many requests for chair weave. Blue skies and sunshine attracted many visitors to the market.
It wasn’t until shortly before 5:00 p.m. that the steady flow of visitors subsided and people could think about loading everything back into the car.
However, the market had one downer. Whenever I asked when I would be there again, I had to answer that I would only be there that day. Although I was advertised for more dates at the farmers’ market, I was only invited to Easter Sunday. This caused a lot of incomprehension among many visitors, but also fellow exhibitors. Because everyone really thought that the farmers market and basketry went well together. And I had the impression that the visitors in particular were very positive about a new face on the market. And at the end of the day, I’m also a direct marketer. My basketry is entirely self-produced, as are every sausage, every bread and every cheese that was offered, among other things. Somehow, after all, willow and the basketry made from it are also an agricultural product.
However. The general interest of visitors has shown me that the farmers’ market is the right place for me and I will stay tuned and try to convince the organizer that I can take part in further events this year.
