Until 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday, the world is still in order. But then the alarm clock rings relentlessly. But you can’t turn around and stay there. Today we’re going to Bad Salzhausen, a district of Nidda, to the farmers’ market.
Some time ago we surprisingly received a few commitments for this market this year. So with a heavy heart, get out of bed and get the morning procedure over with.
And then off to the farmers market. The other direct marketers were already busy setting up when we reached our stand. According to the weather forecast, today we will not have our normal market tent but rather a folding pavilion. As expected, construction was quick and everything was housed in the pavilion even quicker. Because the car is only 2m behind.
During the morning, the city marketing department asked whether everything was OK, to which I could only answer in the affirmative. The best thing was always to tell the visitors that I would be back next month. This means I am able to weave specific bread baskets, serving trays or shopping baskets upon customer request.
Demand for chair wicker was also positive. We just have to wait and see whether the chairs find their way to me at some point.
At 5:00 p.m. it was over and everything was slowly loaded again. After a 12 minute drive home we can now enjoy the weekend for a bit.
I can easily imagine the farmers’ market in Bad Salzhausen as a permanent market in my calendar for the coming years. But city marketing has the final say here. But I hope that I have met their taste with my work as a basket maker and my basketry, especially since I also demonstrate the craft, which was again positively received today.
