Four participants came to the braiding course on Saturday. And things got hot. At least given the temperature outside. Despite a lot of shade from the large plane tree, they had decided together that we would rather weave indoors.
After a short introduction to the topic of the ground cross, it was time for everyone to plunge headfirst into the practice. Learning by doing, as the saying goes.
Ground, stand, hull chine, lunch was the order.
Because of the heat, this time we had iceberg lettuce with various dressings, carrot salad, small meatballs, tomatoes and hummus for lunch. And I think everyone was grateful not to be served goulash soup. Of course, this meal was also tailored to intolerances or allergies. It’s a matter of course for me to ask about this before the course starts.
Then it was time to braid again. The bowls slowly took shape and the results were consistently good. I did intervene to help here and there. But every participant can justifiably claim to have braided their own bowl. At around 6 p.m. it was time to say goodbye and everyone had a lot of fun. I wish everyone a lot of joy with their self-made piece of willow work.
