After the youngest participants had learned to weave with wicker in the morning, everything had to be cleaned up and prepared for the slightly older children who wanted to weave with wicker. In order not to exceed the time frame of three hours, a Ninsen basket is woven.
Six children dared to work on willow. With the help of a frame that holds the stands, the children find it easy to weave. Weaving a floor cross would also have exceeded the time frame of three hours.
It’s always amazing how quickly children get involved with braiding and just get started after being shown how to do it. Adults sometimes find it a little more difficult. Children just do things and adults think too much?
The baskets/bowls quickly took their shape and grew taller. A little help with weaving the ground was necessary every now and then, as the thick ends of the willows were a bit stubborn to weave.
Since there was still time, we were shown how to weave willow spirals. The three hours flew by and every participant was proud to take their wicker basket home with them.
