Medieval festival at Birkenhof

The Birkenhof is a sanctuary near me for around 150 animals. This year the court festival was to take place under the theme of the Middle Ages. Two reasons for me to take part in this court festival with my medieval status and basket making.

It was set up the day before so we could take things slowly on Sunday. Unfortunately, rainy weather was forecast and that’s what the day turned out to be. At first it was sunny, the weather then switched to rain. Luckily it wasn’t heavy, just a drizzle of rain.

That was probably the reason why so many visitors found their way to the Birkenhof. Whether sun or rain, we only ever saw friendly and smiling helpers from Birkenhof. And it was great that they had all changed. There was also plenty of live music, a fire show, delicious food and anyone who got wet on the outside could ensure sufficient counter pressure in liquid form from the inside (i.e. drinks).

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., preparations were made for dismantling. This turned out to be easy for everyone and to everyone’s delight the sun came out again. So what could be better than to all sit together comfortably and have a beer after work?

It was a beautiful festival that was put together with a lot of love by the Birkenhof team. It was fun to be there. Thank you Birkenhof.
