On October 3, 2015, the car-free and fun event took place between Nidda and Schotten. Invited by a friend (Blumen Erden) to a court party on the route, we had to arrive early, because between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. the 14km long route was completely closed to motorized traffic.
We arrived shortly after 8:00 a.m. and construction began at a fairly cool 7° Celsius. The baskets were draped between flowers and garden decorations and garden stakes were distributed. Afterwards there was a delicious pumpkin soup to warm up and the sun slowly started to appear.
At exactly 9:00 a.m. it was suddenly very quiet. No more cars or motorcycles on the road. But then cyclists, skaters, scooters and pedestrians.
Little by little the yard filled up and the focus was primarily on flowers, but there was also a constant interest in weaving chairs, which I demonstrated.
It wasn’t until around 5:00 p.m. that things became a little quieter, even on the street, and we were looking forward to the end of the day. The farmers’ market in Bad Salzhausen is still on the agenda on October 4th, 2015.
After loading the car, there was another pumpkin soup to say goodbye and then it was time to go home and prepare for the next day.
