And again we are in Ortenberg. The second day of the Altstadt Pur weekend begins with construction in the narrow streets of Ortenberg’s old town. We know from experience that you should be there early to set up, otherwise you won’t be able to get through.

Everything in the lower alley was still clear and so we were able to let the residents hear from the construction noise that things were about to start. As usual, the tent stood securely and was quickly decorated with my basketry. What concerns driving in also applies to driving out. So Ralf quickly reparked the bus and then walked from the main road, from the back, so to speak, into the old town.

Well, and then came the sometimes heavy rain. So everything went back into the tent and the side panels closed. It was a matter of waiting and persevering. At some point the clouds cleared up and the later it got, the more beautiful it was. And then with sun and blue skies.

In the morning we were visited by a cat and it had to be the one that was with us last year. We have no idea who it belongs to, but it became a crowd-pleaser. She enjoyed the many caresses from the visitors who were now streaming through the streets in large numbers.

And then came rats. Giant rats! Human-sized! They kidnapped visitors away from the stands. In other words, it’s the opposite of the “Pied Piper of Hamelin”. And just like that, it was clear again as far as the guests were concerned. Nevertheless, many small pieces of my basketry have found a new owner.

We then dedicated part of the afternoon to  vitamin D production. So soak up the sun. You don’t treat yourself to anything else after so many rainy days.

At some point around 7 p.m. it became increasingly empty and the alley was only alive with market participants. So the car was fetched and the basketry was dismantled and loaded. As soon as the door of the car was opened, the above-mentioned cat was sitting inside when it wanted to drive with us. But we prevented that; Not that anyone in Ortenberg is sad when their tiger suddenly disappears.

All in all, the day was fun, we met a lot of friends and acquaintances, the sales were okay and there was a lot of street theater on offer again. And we agree that we would like to be there again in 2017.
