Just picking up a few willows

Shopping for pastures was on the agenda today. Back in December last year I was asked if I would like to take over a few willow bunches. An aging basket maker could no longer weave for health reasons and the willows should go into qualified hands. Pictures showed around 10 bunches of willow.

So you got in the car and drove to the Westerwald. Well, it wasn’t just the bundles shown in the pictures, but a few more, as it turned out after an inspection. It was ultimately agreed that we wouldn’t rush into anything between 2016 and 2017, but that we would arrange a collection date again with the trailer in January 2017.

And today was the day. We drove to the Westerwald with a bus and trailer. And then the work began. The willows were taken outside from every corner and room and loaded into the trailer. And it became more and more and much more. Somehow they underestimated what was supposed to be loaded there. In the meantime the VW bus was getting more and more full and it still didn’t end. Tetris experience and stacking skills were required. Around or over 100 willow bundles (Ralf stopped counting at 50) came together and a lot of other things; the famous little things that had to be stowed away somehow and somewhere.

So now I am the owner of pastures that will last me for the next few days…weeks…months, well probably years.
Here is the result: bus full, trailer full. And the bus is not only full at the back, but also 2.50 m long.
