After last year’s success of the gardeners’ market in Ortenberg, the question arises as to whether the second edition last Saturday was able to build on the success. However, opinions on this differ somewhat. While I am of the opinion that there were just as many visitors as in 2016, others are of the opinion that there were significantly fewer visitors.
It is difficult to judge what the final number of visitors was, but it was obvious that a good hour before the official end of the market the first stalls were already busy dismantling and packing up due to a lack of visitors. A circumstance that I personally cannot understand. Keeping my promise, I didn’t dismantle before 4:00 p.m., like so many others. It just causes unrest and uncertainty among visitors when some stands are packing up everything with a loud clatter.
For my part, I am satisfied with the market result. As soon as I had set it up in the morning, a chair was brought over and I was supposed to replace the seat fabric. The garden stakes were well received by the guests and this may even lead to a small weaving course in rattle technology.
To get back to the title question: In my opinion, the gardeners’ market definitely has its qualities. And with a few adjustments, there is certainly an opportunity for the future.
