The market days over Pentecost in Münzenberg, below the castle, flew by.
Ralf and I calmly set up the tents on Friday and were well prepared for the market days.
This time I have decided not to offer weaving courses with wicker for children. To do this, I braided willow myself and gave a short braiding course on Sunday.
The temperatures were pleasant throughout the long weekend. The short rain shower on Sunday was just a brief spell of weather and did not stop visitors from visiting the market.
However, one point of criticism should be noted. The toilet situation in Dixie Land has been absolutely disastrous this year. Shortly after the market opened, the Dixies were hardly usable anymore. At least for those who had to wear glasses. In some cases only the “summit cross” was missing. A situation that is probably also due to the fact that, in contrast to previous years, around 8 Dixies were missing. One reason why we had our own organic toilet with us from Sunday. A quick conversion of the tarpaulins on the trailer behind the tent and we had a hygienically perfect toilet for the small business.
The fact that parents kept their children behind the tents was another thing that led to heated discussions with the adults. And also to people’s lack of understanding because it was “just” a child. I don’t pee in their backyard or garden either.
So in 2019, every gap between the tents will simply be cordoned off and the red card will be immediately pulled out if anyone dares to defecate behind the tents. At least as long as we are there.
