Ralf dug up the willows that were planted in our garden in 2014 some time ago (what a job!). Although they always grew splendidly, they were unfortunately always so branched that they were absolutely unsuitable for braiding. Cuttings were cut from one part and will now hopefully be used again at NABU Usenborn.
Taking advantage of the good weather, new willows were planted yesterday. Salix Purpurea (Purple Willow), Salix Fragilis (Red Belgian) and Salix Alba (White Willow). All willows that we bought in the Palatinate at the beginning of the year and which I use as wicker. A small test field was created and I’m excited to see how the stalks will develop and whether I could use them as wicker later.
