We started preparing for the beautiful medieval market in Limeshain-Himbach in the Georgenwald on Wednesday. The first act was to transport the caravan to the market area. After a short consultation with the camp management, we were able to park the weekend accommodation. During the small tour that followed, some friends were there and we were happy to welcome them.

Two days later it was time to drive the fully loaded trailer to Himbach and set up the market tents. Everything at a leisurely pace because we had a lot of time. A short trip home, shower, look after the cat and go shopping. Then we went back to Himbach to prepare the caravan for the market weekend.
On Friday evening we sat comfortably in the tent, watched the others set up and drank delicious wine and beer in the candlelight with dear friends. At midnight we retired and slept (reasonably) well. Because in the (residential) wagon castle there was still drumming and trumpeting until 2 a.m. Well, don’t worry about it.
Saturday it started at 10 a.m. The first visitors came to the site before the market opened in beautiful weather and temperatures that were almost too high. Well prepared, I was even able to weave two new baskets that day. Lots of customers, lots of conversations, friendly and happy faces everywhere you looked. A really great day that was over in a flash. It then became cozy with candlelight at the beginning of dusk and mead, wine and other drinks. Once again we stayed in the open tent until the witching hour and had a great time. Together with Rosemarie and Sabine, also known as Fuchsrose, we brought this market day to a close.
On Sunday we were woken up by raindrops on the caravan roof. Oh dear, wet tent tarpaulins; the horror for us because we never have enough space at home to let them dry. But first have breakfast and then we’ll see what happens next.
When asked, we were able to clarify that the tents could stay up until Tuesday/Wednesday. A calming feeling to start the market day like this. Almost on time for the market to start, it stopped raining and the first rays of sunshine reached the market area.

If it had continued to rain, the braiding courses on offer would have literally collapsed. From 10 a.m. onwards, the workshop tent was full of small basket makers. At 2:30 p.m. I was finally able to take a short break before the children’s activity continued until almost the end of the market, which adults also had fun with.
Thanks to the still sunny day, the tent tarpaulins were dry and we were able to dismantle and load everything. So we are ready for the next weekend in Büdingen on July 13th and 14th, when we pitch our tents again at the Schloßplatz and then it’s time for “Knighthood and Minne Kiss”.
One can only confirm to the Freyvolk zu Hohenstaufen that they have once again managed to organize a great market. Always friendly, always approachable, always helpful, they made this market an eventful and wonderful market weekend for us. Thank you and hopefully see you in 2020.
