If you are an organiser and are considering whether I would be a good fit for your event with my market stall and merchandise, I would like to provide you with some information in advance. Please note that I only participate in markets within a radius of about 50km around 63691 Ranstadt.

  • From 1980 to 1983 I learned the profession of basket maker at the state vocational school in Lichtenfels. With a skilled worker certificate in hand, after 27 years I decided to become self-employed in the profession I was learning at the time. I love this craftsmanship and am proud of the basketry I only make myself and the high quality standards that I set for myself.
    I really enjoy communicating with people at markets and events. It’s always a source of new ideas.

  • A market tent with a metal frame running all around with a polyester tarpaulin in a linen look. The side panels and the back can be opened. This tent requires no pegs or guy ropes and can therefore be set up on any surface.

  • Only basketry made by myself is available for sale.

    The material used ranges from willow (unpeeled or peeled) to wicker cane, seagrass cord, self-made willow rails for fine weaving and chair weaving cane for chair weaving.

  • I would be happy to show your visitors and guests the different work of a basket maker if the temperature outside allows it.

    In addition to making basketry, as it is commonly known, I like to demonstrate fine weaving. This facet of basket making is virtually unknown. Thin and narrow willow rails are made on site from peeled willow, which are then woven into bowls or jewelry boxes over a wooden mold. The result is delicate braiding.

    It is also possible to demonstrate the creation of a chair weave. The best-known weave here is the Viennese weave, which is best suited for seating surfaces. There are chairs that can be woven out.

    Please note that when weaving wicker basketry, it will be wet and will need to be kept moist depending on the length of the event. I provide appropriate modern aids and these are concealed depending on the type of event.

    I expect a corresponding fee for my effort and the braiding demonstration. This will be agreed individually with the organizer based on time and effort as well as distance.

  • There are usually two of us at all times. This ensures that the stand can be occupied throughout the duration of the event.
