The last weekend at the Staden Artist Days is now over again. Friday and Saturday were the official opening by the patron Mayor Unger and on Saturday the vernissage on the subject of Europe. Each artist had painted a picture on the topic and was supposed to explain it to the audience in a few words.
And then the big shocking moment for me. After the round everyone turned around and we from the Ranstädter Creative and Gourmet Shop were introduced. And of course we should also say a few words about our work. Well, a few words were required. So I replied “I make baskets”. Few words that describe my work. Puzzled faces all around and then laughter. Phew, sweat on the forehead, dry mouth and an increased pulse, but done.
Sunday was then regular exhibition operations. Guests who were interested in art, but also showed keen interest in my basketry, fine weaving, chair weaving and weaving courses. An interesting weekend, the likes of which I have never experienced before.
A thank you to the “Kraniche” for allowing me to present our craft together with Tina and Andreas from the Ranstädter Creative and Gourmet Shop.
