Three (exhausting) market days in Büdingen

Three days of medieval festival in Büdingen are history. From July 10th to 12th, 2015, the old town of Büdingen was set back several centuries. Alleys and squares were populated by merchants, craftsmen, jugglers and musicians. No modern petrol carriage disturbed the impression of a leap into the past.

Büdingen celebrates this festival every two years. And this time under new management.

This initially led to a somewhat bumpy start. But three days of market made up for it. The weather was good, sometimes too warm.

However, I personally would no longer allow Friday to be a market day. Especially not when the stands are forced to stay open until midnight. On Fridays there are no customers or buyers or far too few.

As before, the festival would only be better on Saturday and Sunday. For the benefit of retailers and also the catering industry.

It would also be a good thing for the organizer if someone in charge showed up (and made themselves known) at some point during the three days and asked at least once if everything was okay, etc. In other markets this is a given and you feel it We have acknowledged this small request and, above all, we have welcomed it. But a feeling arises that you are there but nothing else. You’re just there.

Wristbands for those active would also be a measure. As it was, you had to get free tickets for every day if you wanted to leave the area. But we only found out about it by chance.

This is just a little suggestion for the organizers if you ever read this.

Overall, you can’t really estimate the three days. It was good and yet not so good in terms of the popularity of the children’s campaign, demand for chair weaves and sales.

Still, it was nice. Until July 12, 2015 at 6:52 p.m. Rain! The nightmare shortly before dismantling for every participant with a tent. We dismantled and stowed everything away as quickly as possible by around 7:40 p.m. But the tent tarpaulins got really wet. It’s a shame but unfortunately it can’t be changed.

If I have my way: Büdingen 2017 – I would like to be there again.
