It’s that time of year again. The Guild and Crafts Market will take place on 30 and 31 May 2026 at the former Benedictine abbey in Seligenstadt. Over 100 craftspeople will be showcasing their skills in their respective trades.
Both on the abbey grounds and in the museum, visitors can watch the craftspeople at work and browse their wares.

In the rooms of the abbey and the regional museum, visitors can learn about the craft of basket-making, leatherwork, knife-making and button-making. Historical tailoring skills, the finest lacework created with needle and thread, bobbin lace and beadwork are demonstrated. From screen printing and porcelain painting to musical instrument making, paper cutting, gilding and calligraphy, discover a wide range of craft techniques. Brush makers, copperplate engravers and goldsmiths showcase their skills.

I will be demonstrating the craft of basket-making at the Regiomuseum and offering my Wetterau basketware for sale. What has only just struck me, however, is the fact that I took part in the Guild and Crafts Market for the very first time exactly 10 years ago. And ever since then, I have sought to present the craft of basket-making in all its facets in ever-changing ways. Whether it be chair caning, fine wickerwork or basket weaving from both traditional and modern times, I have demonstrated these techniques to date.
